A favorite thing of mine that not many people know is that I am obsessed with movie soundtracks. One of my largest pet peeves is movie soundtracks that include songs that were only on the credits. When I watch a movie the happenings in the movie are now forever placed in my head with what song was playing at the time. Phil Collin’s You’ll be in my heart will always involve a gorilla accepting a human baby as her own with a large blue butterfly that lands on the babies nose. Strangers like me will always provide the visual of tarzan and jane in the tree tops with all the parrots that makes me dream that tarzan was my boyfriend and i would wear her fabulous skirt, eskimo kiss a parrot... swing with tarzan romantically through the trees... (by the by im in love with tarzan...) Bella note will always involve lady and tramp eating spaghetti together with a fat italian and an accordion in the background. Harry Nilsson’s remember will always include meg ryan in a tiny nostalgic book shop window at christmas with homemade ornaments decorating a tree. Harry Nilsson’s Over the rainbow will always include the words “ Dont cry.. shop girl”. The instrumentals of lord of the rings and harry potter with forever be cherished by my geeky passion for fiction and will ALWAYS cause me to visualize the orcs marching, legolas’ hot long blonde hair (by the way, for you that understand, he counts as my fifth) and the three young kids that never saw their immortalization as actors when they were cast in my mind (as well as the films) as the characters in a children's series that will always be my go to books and movies when I am bored. Not to mention all the stern but mischievous half smirks over those half moon spectacles... The soundtrack is what helps you watch the movie in your head on a long drive, or when your doing homework and cant actually watch the movie. What am I supposed to do with movie credit songs? Thats junk! It has nothing to do with Bella being bitten by a vampire or attempting to show emotion on screen so why should that linkin park song be on the sound track. All soundtracks should also be in the order they are in during the movie, no exceptions. I want the ups and owns of the movie-- the true emotion exploding with base, piano and whiney male voices. I want the war music, the terror music, the love music, the heart broken music... it should express the movies emotions. It should be the darn movie without the scripted wit and charm. This is all I ask of movie soundtracks.. its not hard... really.
